‘The Truth Remains’: finished!

All five of these little beasts are done: pages sewn together, accordion folds sewn into place, covers attached, and flannel-lined storage bags completed.

I discuss these books more here.

Each ended up when closed 7.25×5.25″, about the size of a paperback book. They open to 7.25×50″. There are over sixty patriotic fabric appliques sewn into each book, on the ten front and ten back pages. Texts are digitally printed, hand-embroidered, or hand-inked. Each fore-edge has red thread and glass bead tassels.

The fabric covers are five layers thick with a stiffened heavy interfacing core. The front covers show slashed American flags (discount embroidered patches made in China) separated by red glass beads and pewter rifle charms. The back covers have red and black applique panels with pewter pistol charms and glass bead accents.

Embroidered over digitally-altered maps of mass shooting, protest march, NRA Headquarters, Washington DC, and Mar-a-Lago locations, the main text examines the National Rifle Association’s disturbing links with white racist groups, foreign governments, and Christian theocratic groups within and without the United States of America.

“Ignore the Truth. Forget the Name. Rewrite the History. Erase the Word. Silence the Voice. Destroy the Haven. Pass the Blame. The Truth Remains.”

It’s not a complimentary book to any of these entities.

  1. I’m slating at least two of them for my book arts agents. The other three might go on my SaatchiArt page. They’re going to be $650 apiece at my cost, though.
